How to Install USB Drivers
USB drivers are used with any device that is plugged into your computer's USB ports. This includes many peripherals that are commonly used, such as printers, mice, cameras, speakers and more. If you're experiencing problems with one of your USB devices, the following troubleshooting tips will help you get the device up and running again.
If you have a plug-n-play computer system, this problem may be corrected by restarting your computer system after you have plugged the device in. Alternatively, if it is a new device and you have software that came with it, install the software without the device connected to the computer. Once the software has been installed, reconnect the USB device to the computer. If it still doesn't work with your operating system, a newer USB driver is needed.
Finding a newer driver for your operating system is as easy as surfing the Internet with your
favourite search engine. Search for the manufacturer of the device and once you've found their website, look for a support and downloads page. This page will list the products that the manufacturer sells, as well as downloads that will help run these devices. In some cases, locating the correct downloads will require a serial number or identification number. This number is usually located on the bottom or back of the device. This number can also be found on the manual that came with the product.
Before you download any USB drivers, be sure that the product and serial number or identification numbers match the download. In addition, select the correct operating system (such as Windows Vista) or your new download will not work correctly. Follow the installation instructions exactly, which may include rebooting your computer system in order for the new USB driver to work. After you've installed the new driver, plug your USB device back into the computer.
If any problems arise after the installation of the new USB drivers, disconnect the device, reboot the computer, then plug the device back in. The computer should now recognize the device.
